Springfield Police Department Promotes Captain, Lieutenant and Two Sergeants
Springfield, Mass. — On Thursday July 11th, Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers on behalf of the Springfield Police Department along with Mayor Domenic J. Sarno held a promotional pinning ceremony for the Department’s newest Captain, Lieutenant and two Sergeants at Springfield City Hall.
Springfield Police Superintendent Akers promoted Lieutenant Juan Rosario to the rank of Captain, Sergeant Emily Dunn to the rank of Lieutenant and Officers Christopher Goodrow and Michael Stierle to the rank of Sergeant. These promotions took effect on Sunday July 7th.
Superintendent Akers stated, “I would like to congratulate these officers who worked extremely hard to earn these promotions. In my career, I didn’t become a Sergeant until I had 26 years on the job. I am pleased to see some of our talented officers begin to rise in the ranks at an earlier point in their careers. Family and friends of these newly promoted Supervisors should be proud of their efforts in achieving this accolade. As this is the first group of officers I am promoting as Superintendent, I will be expecting you to live up to your oath and be a leader for your fellow officers and I will also be watching your progress as you grow into these positions you have rightfully earned.”
Mayor Sarno stated, “I am proud to congratulate our brave and dedicated Springfield Police Officers who are being promoted to captain, lieutenant, and sergeant this week. Thank you to each and every one of you and your families for your service and continued brave and dedicated efforts in keeping our Springfield community safe. Wishing you continued good health and God speed.”
