Superintendent Akers Recognizes Officers for Serving Our Community

Springfield, Mass. — Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers would like to publicly recognize C-3 Officers Tyler Stanton, David Suchcicki, Alex Ortiz and Sergeant Daniel Johnson for serving the public in a manner that shines a positive light on our department.

On September 16th, a subject was allegedly breaking windows at an apartment building and is suspected to have thrown a brick through a window of an elderly person’s home in the Forest Park neighborhood.  The suspect was placed under arrest.

City Councilor Kateri Walsh wrote an email to Superintendent Akers commending the officers for their quick response to assist the elderly neighbor.  She wrote in part, “I appreciate their (the officers) concern and response and the reassurance they have given to my constituent and his family.

Superintendent Akers stated, “Our C-3 Officers are tied into their neighborhoods, and I am pleased to see the connection they made with this victim and the compassion they showed during their interaction, enough so that a City Councilor took the time to commend their service.  Thank you to Sergeant Johnson for initiating this response and to Officers Ortiz, Stanton and Suchcicki for your professional response that prompted this letter.  Every interaction with the public makes a difference and want all our officers serving our community in the same manner that they bravely protect our community.”
