Superintendent Akers Thanks Rays of Hope Walk & Run Volunteers

Springfield, Mass. — Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers would like to publicly thank the 70 police Supervisors, Officers, Retired Officers, Cadets and Firefighters who donated their time to volunteer for the Rays of Hope Walk & Run on Sunday October 27th.

Police Supervisors who volunteered included Captain Brian Keenan, Lieutenant Eleni Barbieri, Sergeant Devon Williams, Sergeant Karen Simmons, Sergeant Johnathan Torres, Sergeant Douglas Bernier, Sergeant Michael Stierle and Sergeant Michael O’Shea.

Police Officers who volunteered included Luis Aguilar, Victor Allder, Joseph Brodeur, Ari Casillas, Sean Collins, Kelley Diederich, Siahra Feliciano, Orette Ho-Sang, Chad Joseph, Samantha Jones, Wanina Justiniano, Kyle Kalin, Anthony Kelliher, Shavonne Lewis, Jacob Martinez, Gregory McCain, Ryan McCarthy, Kyle McDonald, Gaston Mengal, Luishka Mendez-Vazquez, Jamie Mickiewicz, Daniel Moriarty, Daniel Moynahan, Tralee Noonan, Felix Perez, Angel Reyes, Gizenia Rivera, Cameron Russell, Marty Santa, Anthony Santiago, Dillon Springer, Kevin Sullivan, Ryan Thomas, Theodore Truoiolo, Nathan Valois, Julio Vazquez, Sinely Vegerano and Alan Wine.

Thank you for volunteering and doing your part for ensuring another successful Rays of Hope Walk & Run.

Since its inception in 1994, Rays of Hope has been helping individuals in the fight against breast cancer by walking alongside them on their cancer journey. Through the Baystate Health Breast Network, Rays of Hope cares for the whole person from diagnosis and beyond by supporting research at the Rays of Hope Center for Breast Cancer Research, providing funding for state-of-the-art equipment, breast health programs and outreach and education throughout Baystate Health as well as providing grants for complementary therapies and cancer programs to our community partners throughout western Massachusetts.  Rays of Hope has raised nearly $17.2 million to date. All funds raised remain local in western Massachusetts.
