SPD Detectives Identify and Arrest ATM Fraud Suspect

Springfield, Mass. — On Friday March 29th at approximately 6:30 a.m., members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU), Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, Massachusetts State Police VFAS and U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force arrested 33-year-old Ivan Gomez-Liriano on the 100 block of Woodland Street.

Springfield Police Detectives under the direction of Captain Trent Duda began this investigation on October 16th, 2023, after receiving a report that a victims’ bank account had several withdrawals from an unknown suspect.

The illegal withdrawals happened at a TD Bank ATM on the 1800 block of Boston Road on several days about a week from the illicit activity being noticed by the card holder.

In March, this same suspect was allegedly committing similar crimes in Rhode Island.  Then a West Springfield Police Officer conducted a traffic stop with Gomez-Liriano as the driver.  This information was forward to Rhode Island who were granted a Fugitive from Justice Court Warrant for his arrest.

Springfield Police Detectives had also applied for and were granted a warrant for his arrest in connection with the alleged crimes that occurred in Springfield.  On Friday he was placed under arrest.

33-year-old Ivan Gomez-Liriano of Springfield is charged with:

  • Arrest Warrant
    – Identity Fraud
    – Credit Card Fraud over $1200
    – Forge or Utter a Forged Credit Card
    – Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card more than $1000
    – Fugitive from Justice on a Court Warrant
