SPD Officers Arrest Juveniles Breaking into a Hyundai

Springfield, Mass. — At approximately 2:45 a.m. on Thursday April 25th, Springfield Police Officers arrested two juveniles in connection with a car break.

Around 2:00 a.m. officers observed two suspects actively breaking into a Hyundai on King St.  Once the suspect saw the police they took off.  Officers saw the damage to the vehicle and alerted its owner.

A short time later officers spotted the two suspects on Lebanon Street.  Officers also found burglarious tools on one of the suspects.

The 15 and 16-year-old juvenile males were placed under arrest.  Due to their ages, their names and booking photos cannot be released.

The Springfield Police Department would like to remind our residents if they have a Hyundai or Kia to please get a highly visible steering wheel locking device to prevent car breaks and car thefts.  Hyundais and Kias are still being stolen and broken into at a very high rate.  Please protect yourself and help us prevent auto-thefts.
