Springfield Police Seize Illegal Dirt Bike during Public Safety Detail

Springfield, Mass. — On Saturday April 27th at approximately 2:35 p.m., Springfield Police Officers seized an illegal dirt bike and arrested 25-year-old Kevin Colon-Soto on the 100 block of Walnut Street.

The Springfield Police Department regularly receives complaints of illegal dirt bike or OHV riding in the streets of Springfield in which the riders put the lives of others and themselves at risk.

On Saturday afternoon, Officers were working an Anti-Off-Highway-Vehicle (OHV)/Dirt Bike public safety detail when they observed a dirt bike rider near the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Wilbraham Road.  Officers monitored the rider as he performed dangerous stunts down busy streets.

The rider, later identified as Colon-Soto, stopped at a convenience store on Walnut Street and went inside.  When he walked out Officers detained him and discovered he was unlicensed.  Officers placed Colon-Soto under arrest.

The dirt bike, which was reported stolen out of Connecticut, was seized.

Colon-Soto also has an illegal firearms conviction from a 2021 arrest in Springfield.

25-year-old Kevin Colon-Soto of Springfield is charged with:

  • Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
  • Negligent/Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Operating an OHV on a Public Way
  • Operating an OHV without a Helmet
