SPD FIU Detectives Seize Trafficking Weight of Fentanyl, Heroin & Crack-Cocaine

Springfield, Mass. — On Thursday April 11th at approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Captain Brian Keenan seized trafficking weights of Fentanyl, Heroin and Crack-Cocaine while arresting two suspects after a months-long investigation.

On Thursday Detectives were conducting surveillance on Omar Wills and observed several alleged narcotics transactions across the city.  In the afternoon, Wills parked his car on the 1000 block of Worthington Street when a second vehicle arrived.  The driver, Yadiel Martinez, was known to Detectives.  Martinez currently has two open drug trafficking cases in Hampden Superior Court.  Martinez went into Wills’ car.

Shortly after Detectives conducted a traffic stop.  Detectives located more than 37 grams of Fentanyl, approximately 1100 bags of heroin (22 Grams), crack-cocaine (84.5 grams), $740 in cash and 150 bags of suboxone strips.

Detectives placed Wills and Martinez under arrest.

22-year-old Yadiel Martinez of Springfield is charged with:

  • Trafficking Class A – 18-36 Grams (Heroin)
  • Trafficking Class A – 10+ Grams (Fentanyl)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law

49-year-old Omar Wills of Springfield is charged with:

  • Trafficking Class B – 36-100 Grams (Crack-Cocaine)
  • Trafficking Class A – 18-36 Grams (Heroin)
  • Trafficking Class A – 10+ Grams (Fentanyl)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
  • Uninsured Motor Vehicle (Two Counts)
  • Unregistered Motor Vehicle (Two Counts)
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle without a License
  • Conceal ID of a Motor Vehicle (Two Counts)
