SPD Reminds Residents and Visitors to Lock their Car Doors

Springfield, Mass. — On Saturday May 4th at approximately 4:40 a.m., Springfield Police Officers arrested 35-year-old Benny Carrasco in connection with more than a dozen attempted car-breaks.

Around 4:30 a.m., officers responded a hotel on the 800 block of East Columbus Avenue for a subject attempting to break into vehicles.

Officers received a description of the suspect and located Carrasco at the intersection of Main Street and Marble Street.  Carrasco was positively identified and placed under arrest.

In total, Carrasco is alleged to have attempted to break into 19 vehicles.  Due to all the vehicles being locked, the suspect was not able to enter any cars.
