Springfield Police K-9 Officer Blair & K-9 Flexx Qualify for USPCA National Trials

Springfield, Mass. — The Springfield Police Department is pleased to recognize K-9 Officer Eric Blair and his K-9 partner Flexx who recently competed in a United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) event.

Officer Blair and K-9 Flexx competed in the USPCA Region 4 Field Trials in Ludlow on May 21-22.  The event combines competition and K-9 teams’ annual patrol certification.

K-9 teams participated in judged obedience, agility, box search and apprehension activities.  Officer Blair and K-9 Flexx placed second in the novice division, first in the article search, first in the box search, second in criminal apprehension and third in agility.

With their scores, they also qualified to attend the USPCA National Trials to be held in September in Georgia.

Officer Blair has been with the Springfield Police Department since 2011 and part of the K-9 Unit since 2014.  K-9 Flexx, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, joined the department in December 2021.
