SPD Detective Bureau Investigation Leads to Arrest of Shooting Suspect

Springfield, Mass. — On Monday April 1st at approximately 9:00 p.m., Springfield Police Officers arrested 30-year-old Justin Alvarez on the 200 block of Carew Street in connection with a shooting.

Around 7:40 a.m. on March 24th, officers responded to the 0-100 block of Ringgold Street for a report of a ShotSpotter activation.  The Springfield Police Detective Bureau under the direction of Captain Trent Duda began investigating and identified Alvarez as the shooting suspect.  Alvarez is alleged to have a shot at a victim during this incident.  No one was struck.

30-year-old Justin Alvarez of Springfield is charged with:

  • Arrest Warrant
    – Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
    – Carrying a Firearm without a License
    – Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
    – Breaking and Entering during the Daytime while Armed
    – Assault & Battery on a Family/Household member
