SPD Officers Seize Firearm from High Street Apartment
Springfield, Mass. — On Monday July 25th at approximately 11:00 a.m. Springfield Police Officers recovered a loaded firearm after responding to a call for a suspicious person inside an apartment on High Street.
Around 10:10 a.m. officers responded to an apartment at 38 High Street and observed two individuals, later identified as Wilberto Castro and Amber Couture, sleeping inside the apartment. Officers also observed a broken window. Then officers recovered a loaded firearm on the couch. The property manager told officers the apartment should have been unoccupied.
Both suspects were arrested. Castro also had seven outstanding warrants.
40-year-old Wilberto Castro of Springfield is charged with:
- Breaking and Entering into a Building – Daytime for a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
- Improper Storage of a Firearm
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Firearm Violation with 3 Prior Violent/Drug Crimes
