SPD Officers Seize Illegal Firearm, Arrest Two Suspects

Springfield, Mass. — On Sunday April 7th at approximately 5:30 p.m., Springfield Police Officers seized a loaded firearm, drugs and arrested two suspects on the 300 block of Dickinson Street.

Around 4:45 p.m. officers responded to Trafton Road for a disturbance where a gun was allegedly involved.  Officers located the suspect, Kenneth Latino, in a driveway on the 300 block of Dickinson Street.  Officers observed Latino hand a firearm to a female, later identified as Anastasia Doucette, which she placed in her waistband.

Officers took Latino into custody.  Douchette did not allow officers to immediately retrieve the firearm, which fell out of her pant leg before officers could retrieve it.

Douchette was wearing a fanny pack, inside of it officers recovered two additional loaded firearm magazines, 84 bags of heroin, Xanax and cocaine.

Douchette also threatened to shoot an officer.  Latino and Douchette were placed under arrest.

Latino has three previous firearms convictions.

27-year-old Kenneth Latino of Springfield is charged with:

  • Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle
  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number during the Commission of a Felony
  • Receiving a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Trafficking Firearms (1-2)
  • Firearm Violation with 3 Prior/Violent Drug Crimes
  • Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class E Drug
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
  • Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • Default Warrant – East Brookfield District Court

20-year-old Anastasia Douchette of Springfield is charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number during the Commission of a Felony
  • Receiving a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class E Drug
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
  • Tampering or Destruction of Evidence (Two Counts)
  • Threat to Commit a Crime
  • Assault
