Springfield Police Officers Recover Loaded Firearm Friday Afternoon
Springfield, Mass. — On Friday May 6th at approximately 4:20 p.m. Springfield Police Officers recovered a loaded firearm and arrested 41-year-old Ramon Fontanez on the 0-100 block of Brown Street.
On Friday afternoon officers located a subject matching the description of a shooter from an incident on Worthington and Armory Streets in the afternoon of May 3rd. Officers attempted to speak to the subject who pinned a fanny pack to his chest and rode away on a bicycle attempting to evade the police. Officers located the subject, later identified as Fontanez, on Brown Street. Officers then found the fanny pack nearby with a loaded firearm inside. Fontanez was placed under arrest.
The investigation into the shooting on May 3rd remains under investigation.
41-year-old Ramon Fontanez of Springfield is charged with:
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Possession of Ammunition without a FID Card
- Improper Storage of a Firearm
