Four Illegal Firearms, Trafficking Weight of Fentanyl & Cocaine Seized

Springfield, Mass. — On Tuesday March 12th at approximately 6:00 a.m. members of the A.T.F. Boston Field Division, Springfield Field Office assisted by members of the Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU), Chicopee Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, Holyoke Police and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department seized four illegal firearms and trafficking amounts of fentanyl and cocaine while arresting two suspects during the executing a search warrant on the 0-100 block of Wilbraham Avenue.

Members of the A.T.F. Boston Field Division, Springfield Field Office have been investigating 37-year-old Christopher Garcia for his suspected involvement with drugs and illegal firearms.   When the search warrant was executed, Garcia and 41-year-old Edwin Otero were placed under arrest.

During the search, four illegal firearms were recovered including a large capacity firearm.  Also recovered more than 100 grams of Cocaine and 100 grams of Fentanyl.  This is an ongoing investigation conducted by the A.T.F. Boston Field Division, Springfield Field Office.

37-year-old Christopher Garcia of Springfield is charged with:

  • Cocaine Trafficking 100-200 Grams
  • Heroin/Fentanyl Trafficking 100-200 Grams
  • Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card (Four Counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony (Two Counts)
  • Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card – Subsequent Offense
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm during the Commission of a Felony (Two Counts)
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine/Feeding Device
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony (Four Counts)
  • Improper Storage of a Firearm (Three Counts)
  • Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm without a License

41-year-old Edwin Otero of Springfield is charged with:

  • Arrest Warrant
    – Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License – Subsequent Offense
    – No Inspection Sticker
