Springfield Police Homicide Unit Investigation Leads to an Arrest in January Indian Orchard Murder

Springfield, Mass.  —  A Springfield Police Department Homicide Unit investigation under the direction of Captain Trent Duda has led to an arrest from a January 2022 murder in Indian Orchard.

On Wednesday April 13th at approximately 8:30 a.m. members of the Springfield Police Warrant Apprehension Unit, United States Marshals Task Force, Massachusetts State Police VFAS State Troopers and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department arrested 26 year old Jerry Ramos at 130 Pearl Street on an arrest warrant for murder charges.

On Thursday January 27th at approximately 5:10 a.m. Springfield Police Officers responded to the intersection of Pinevale Street and Essex Street in Indian Orchard for a report of an unresponsive male inside a car.  When officers arrived they found that the adult male was deceased and suffered from a gunshot wound.  The Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit took over the investigation.  The investigation revealed that the victim was shot and killed prior to when the body was discovered.

During the investigation Homicide Detectives were able to identify Ramos as a suspect.  On April 11th, Springfield Police Homicide Detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Ramos for murder and firearms charges.  Ramos turned himself in Wednesday morning.

    – Carrying a Firearm without a License
    – Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
    – Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
    – Firearm-Armed Robbery
